How To Make Adversity Work For You

Tweet: Set your sails of faith and courage against the winds of adversity, and they become a power source to move you forward.

I enjoy watching sailboats glide across the lake, using the wind as their power source. It fascinates me that a skillful boatman can set his sails to propel the boat forward against the wind.

When adversity comes against you like a strong headwind, it’s hard to imagine moving forward in a positive direction in your life. If you see yourself as a victim of your circumstances you will be blown about by them.

On the other hand, if you set your sails of faith and courage against the winds of adversity, and set your mind to discern what God is teaching you and where He wants to take you, then they become a power source to move you forward toward God’s purpose for your life.

Scripture Reading II Corinthians 12:9-10

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong. (NASV)

 Your Invitation to Community

The support of a Christian community is crucial to face a difficult future. Of course, you want to be active in a local Bible-teaching church. Here are two other Christian communities that can benefit you.

There is a growing community of over 80,000 Christians who share the burden of health care costs. The Smith family have been members of this community for many years, and have saved literally thousands of dollars as a result. When one of us went to the emergency room and ran up a $5,000 bill, the community shared the cost with us. It worked!

Here are some of the benefits when you join:

  • Lower Costs Families average around $300 a month, and seniors use an inexpensive plan to supplement Medicare.
  • Choice of Doctor Select your doctor from PHCS, America’s largest network of health care providers.
  • Exemption from The Affordable Care Act You will not be required to buy insurance or face penalties.
  • Respect for Your Christian Convictions You never have to pay for prescriptions or procedures that break God’s heart.

The purpose of the newsletter is to encourage you to face the future and share your faith with confidence. We invite members to share needs or inspiring experiences.
